‘Upcycled’ from trees our kids daycare needed taken down

Really something creative and custom for whatever occasion. Kind of my thing—I make stuff that can fill multiple categories and/or serve multiple purposes, especially when gifting.

It’s a nice looking piece if you ask me.

Finish: Hope’s 100% Pure Tung oil (yes it’s food safe…don’t get me started on “food safe” finishes–everything is food safe if it has cured and dry), though this isn’t meant to serve food, it can hold things like fruit and such, liquids would probably find a way through the live edge portions eg., the small knots in the bottom

Streaks of deep/bright red pass throughout this live edge box elder bowl. There’s a small amount of curly figure, since after all, box elder is a species of soft maple.

Please note the bowl does have some inclusions and knots that make it unsuitable for holding liquids. Though, they’re certainly a welcome addition for decorative purposes.

It will be an excellent accent piece/addition to any room for any purpose, save liquid holding purposes.

Finish: mineral oil and a very very thin spray coat of nitrocellulose lacquer. This helps provide a small amount of protection as well as adding a little reflective sheen to the surface so the oil doesn’t darken the red hue over time.
